Avcon Obtains FAA STC for 400-AMP Mission Generator for P&W PT6A-67A Engines

Avcon Industries, Inc., received Federal Aviation Administration Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) approval of the Avcon Dual 400 Amp Starter-Generator Special Mission Power System Installation for King Air airplanes with the Pratt and Whitney PT6A-67A engines.

Avcon received STC SA11298DS for the installation of replacement dual 400 Amp starter-generators on the King Air.  The Avcon STC provides a total generator capacity of 800 Amps, significantly more than the two factory-standard starter-generators.  The installation also features a user-customizable power distribution system with 400 Amps of power from two dedicated electrical busses, allowing optimization for Special Mission Operations.

Aric Peters, Avcon Director of Sales commented, “We are diligently developing new product offerings to enhance our Special Mission Modifications.   The 400 Amp power modification for the PT6A-67A equipped King Air significantly increases the capabilities in light of the continuing demand for power for the evolving electronic ISR systems.  We continue to maximize the use of the corporate King Air 350 to develop cost-effective and market-niche products.  Our next target for the 400 Amp power modification is the King Air with the PT6A-60A.”
